Don't Escape 2: The Outbreak Guide
Don't Escape 2: The Outbreak Walkthrough
The Base
1. Travel to the far left of the base to grab the shovel.
2. Exit the house and grab both the house keys and the wire from the dumpster.
3. Head into the alley beside the house in order to grab the bullet wedged into the wall and the wire cutters stuck into the ground.
4. Exit the base by exiting through the broken fence into the woods. In order to be most efficient with time spending, start by heading to the bottom-right location (-10 minutes).

The Church
1. Grab the axe stuck in the stump on the bottom right.
2. Take the bullet lying on the ground. The little bastard can be found on the ground left of the third fence post from the church. Because it is barely noticeable, it is best to use the description that appears on the bottom-left of the screen to properly locate it.
3. With no other use for the church, now exit and head to the top-right location (-10 minutes).

The Gas Station
1. Take the bullet and the bullet and empty fuel canister from the front of the gas station.
2. Enter the gas station, and loot the cash register and the medical kit for a coin and painkillers.
3. From the shelf, take some batteries and a water bottle.
4. Enter the backroom of the gas station using the axe from the church.
5. Take the room's bullet and rubber hose.
6. Exit the gas station and walk over to the top-left location (-10 minutes).

The Shop
1. Insert your coin from the gas station into the shopping cart. Now you can carry heavy items!
2. Using the shopping cart, grab the reel of metal by the fence.
3. Talk to Jeremy, the blonde man on the right side of the screen. He will provide you information about his lost glasses. You can trust him about his repayment.
4. Enter the shop, take both the bottle of alcohol and the battery-less camera form the store's shelves.
5. Notice the hole in the shop with the growling noises? Upon clicking on it, you'll find a trapped zombie and Jeremy's glasses. You have a bullet saved for him.
6. Power the camera using the batteries from the gas station. Then, take a picture of the child's drawing outside the shop. There is a man who may want this...
6. Now exit the shop to head over to the last unidentified location, the crash site (-10 minutes).

The Crash Site
1. Grab the 9mm handheld gun form the ground near the police car for our zombie buddies.
2. Attach the rubber hose from the gas station onto the police car's fuel tank and collect it using the empty fuel cannister. Now its full!
3. Do not bother with the sticks from the bush, they will only hinder you. Now, make the return to the shop (-10 minutes).

The Shop Revisited
1. Head into the shop to your trapped zombie friend and load your gun with your four bullets.
2. Deal him quick justice (+5 zombies) and grab Jeremy's glasses.
3. Head outside the shop and hand Jeremy his glasses. Now you have his willing support (+1 friend).
4. Make the final visit to the church (-20 mins).

The Church Revisited
1. Using the trolley from the shop, fill it up with the bag of cement and the pile of bricks. Now you can barricade your base's windows!
2. Head inside the church, to find a lonely, depressed man on the left. Remedy this with your photo from the shops. Now Father Bernard has joined your ranks (+1 friend).
3. Now with all support and supplies collected, time has come to defend your base. Head "home" (-10 mins).

The Base Revisited
1. Before starting any preparations, enslave our old accomplice Bill using the painkillers you grabbed from the shop. Do not hand him anything else for now.
2. Head out to the gate, and repair it by joining it up with the reel of metal from the shops. With help from your three friends, it should take 1 hour and 45 minutes (-1 hour and 45 minutes). Now you have your first line of defense (-15 zombies)!
3. Improve this by powering the generator with the fuel canister you collected from the police car at the crash site. Then, turn on and connect the generator to the fence with the pair of wires from the dumpster to electrify the fence (-5 zombies)!
4. Heading out to the front yard of the house, dig a pit trap with the shovel from the base for the zombies. With the help of your three friends, it will take 1 hour and 30 minutes (-1 hour and 30 mins). Now you have your second line of defense (-15 zombies)!
5. Head inside the house, and lock the door with the keys from the dumpster. Now you have your primary third line of defense (-10 zombies)!
6. Head into the room with Bill and add both the bottle of water from the gas station and the bag of cement from the church into the sand bucket.
7. Mix this to create mortar, and use the bricks form the church on the window, using it and the mortar to barricade it. With the help your your three friends, it will take 45 minutes (-45 minutes). Now you have your secondary third line defense built (-10 zombies). Now you have created all of the defenses, which in all will fend off 55 zombies in all!
8. Fulfil Bill's wish to have the bottle of alcohol, which will leave in intoxicated and unconscious. Now, slaughter him with the axe from the church (otherwise, he will prove his disloyalty during the attack). He was a zombie after all.
9. Head over to the far left of the base, where the locked hatch it located. Put the metal cutter from the base's alleyway to use, removing the stubborn padlock (can also be shot away, but will attract 5 more zombies).
10. Climb inside the hatch, with only Father Bernard, Jeremy, a shovel, a wire cutter, a full fuel canister, an axe, a shopping cart, a gun with three bullets, a pair of wires, and a key.
11. Shut the hatch, and start the attack, having 2 hours and 40 minutes left on the clock, by clicking on the clock in the inventory.

The Attack
The attack should end perfectly, with nobody harmed, and no zombies within the base. If the base were to be breached though, the hatch would fend off 5 zombies, the axe 1 zombie, and 1 zombie per bullet. All three of you will escape unharmed and the game will end.

Break the Limits! Game Review

Game Review
You are trapped in a room and the only thing you can do is think. But what will you think about? Storm Alligator brings us Break the Limits! which is a short clicker game made in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 31, theme on Entire Game on One Screen. In the beginning of this experimental incremental game all you can do is think, which is done by clicking, and which nets you thoughts. As you gather more thoughts, you can open up to more possibilities and a whole range of human emotions by spending these thoughts to gain memories, or find loneliness and many other ideas and feelings. A weird game, somehow sucks you in and makes you want to finish it like a hypnotising thing... Some of the noises were pretty alarming and creepy during the anger phase, and the feeling of building excitement and increasing happiness toward the end was palpable.

Normally I would feel wrong for loving a game like this, but he thought of controlling your own dreams is an amazing concept for a game. Everything is so charming and quirky! The mechanics work well to make it feel like I was progressing at my own pace. Break the Limits! isn't really an idle incremental game. Where most idle games take days of just being left up on your screen, this one can be finished in 10 minutes, give or take a few. I'm gonna say that this was about a person trying to wake someone else up from a coma. The person in green is someone talking beside the main character who is stuck inside his own head. The green person says "You squeezed my hand" at one point surprisingly and the ending line is "I can't believe it" implying the person in the coma woke up.

With a minimum artistic resources this game creates very powerful aesthetic effect. I think the idea - of a incremental idle game centred around managing personal thoughts and emotions deserves further elaboration in a bigger game. For what it is though, this game rightfully deserves praise and attention. I highly recommend playing it once!

Hacker's Escape Game Review & Walkthrough Guide

Hacker's Escape

Play Online: Hacker's Escape

Genre: Adventure, Puzzle

Game Review
Hacker's Escape is, as the title would imply, is an point and click escape game made by Pine Studio. I really enjoyed it. One of the better escape games. There are codes hidden around the room, but you'll find a lot of electronic equipment you'll need to put to good use if you ever want to find your way out. It took me trials and errors to figure out how to get a fingerprint to switch on a computer with a broken screen, which required a bit of logical thinking. I was also a little worried, because everyone complained about the math, but the hexadecimal is actually not too difficult if you just look at the example on the paper and follow that exact same pattern. This one make you think, and everything makes sense. Then, the last puzzle equation was surprisingly simple yet a little daunting at first. Once I figured out how it moved and using the objects I enjoyed it and finished without any help. No random clicks to find abstract objects in this one, you actually have to find objects that must be used together in a realistic way. And the text gives you some idea of what needs to be done with various things. Overall, I will say it is pretty challenging for those who seldom play this type of escape games. Smooth graphics and progression! A must try, it's free for iOS and Android, download the game if you are using a smart phone now.

Don't Escape Guide
Don't Escape Walkthrough
Gathering Items
1. Take the rope from the hook on the left, by the shelf.
2. Turn right once again and take the glass bottle from the table.
3. There's a bit of dark floorboard at the very bottom of the screen. Click it to look down, and click the square of loose flooring.
4. In the upper right corner, you'll find a piece of meat, and in the box, you'll find some spice.
5. To leave, click twice on the far left side of the hole.
7. Turn right so you're facing the window. Take the silver key from the jacket, and the small golden key from under the bed.
8. Check out each drawer in the chest of drawers. Open the third one from the top and take the tinderbox from inside.
9. Turn right and take the dried herb from the hook on the wall, and a piece of root from the top of the barrel farthest from you.
10. Use the small key (the gold one) on the chest. Ooh, a hammer and nails.
11. Turn right one more time, so you're facing the open door, and go outside!
12. Take the axe from the stump, the chopped wood logs from next to the stump, the chain from under the cabin roof, and the mushroom from near the rightmost fence post.
13. Head back inside.

Brewing the Potion
1. While facing the door from inside, turn right and examine the papers on the table. There's a second page, so after you read the first page, click on the one behind it (the overlap is on the left).
2. There's something here about how "a handful of hot dust, a crunchy herb, and something that grows in earth but is not a plant" can weaken the beast.
3. Facing the fireplace. The first step in brewing a potion is boiling the water, so you'd better do that first.
4. Place the chopped wood below the pot, then use the tinderbox on the wood. FIRE!
5. The next step is the ingredients. There are many things you can add, but not all of them are useful.
6. "Hot" can also mean "spicy," so add the spice to the pot.
7. The herb is already well-dried, so that can go right in.
8. Next up is something that grows, but isn't a plant. Fungi aren't plants, so add the mushroom.
9. Use the glass bottle on the pot. You have a vial of potion!
10. The notes said it wears off very quickly, so better not use it right away.

Final Preparations
1. Turn so you're facing the front door. Click the door to close it, and use the silver key on the door to lock it.
2. Click on the very left of the shelf to push the shelf in front of the door.
3. Turn 180 degrees and close the window.
4. Click the latch at the center of the closed window to lock it up. The hook is on the left.
5. Since the potion is slow-acting, combine the potion and the meat.
6. Put the meat on the hook above the table.
7. Use the axe on the table. Take the planks.
8. Use the planks on the window, then use the hammer & nails on the planks.
9. Use the rope on your face in the inventory, then do the same with the chain. Both icons should have a check mark.
10. Once you're all tied up, click the hourglass and choose "yes," and then read about your night!

Endings
What happens next depends on your level of preparedness. If you managed to complete all of the above (not necessarily in that order), you'll be successful in restraining the werewolf. Fail to do so and it will break free and go on a rampage. The results of the rampage vary depending on how long it took for the werewolf to break free - and if you fail to restrain it in any way, well… you'll see. Bad stuff.

For Any Floor: Reveal All Traps.
Reach the oracle safely, watch carefully and remember the traps. Start over and chose another entry if required, or you choose to trial and error. All you need is at least 3 health points to check for traps. Just remember that you can redo any action, so just click the space before the pit to reverse the damage.

First Floor: Immune to Poison.
Level up by fighting a few bats, then grab a few health packs. Now fight against a snake, then get an antidote as soon as possible. You will be gaining immunity to all poisons. This effectively makes poison gas a non-issue, and it allows you to steamroll the otherwise scary snakes.

Second Floor: Time to Killing Spree!
Level up a bit, and get tools early. Doing this will allow you to walk through traps and better deal with later foes. Fight against the Golem with the Golem Killer preferably. You should be clearing as much of the map as possible in second stage.

Third floor: Prepared Well.
Don't get the disguise on this floor first. It's always better to fight Dungeon God Fanatics because they give lots of XP. Afterwards, make sure you have the Sereverance aka 'The God Killer' before you leave and have more than 6 health points. Try grabbing the Templar Outfit to dodge the fight against them in the fourth floor.

Final Floor: Nailed It!
Check if you have The God Killer, lots of health, and high attack power? Grab the healing potions if needed and you should be fine. ^^

Fishy Waters Walkthrough
Simple goal, simple concept and simple gameplay. Nothing very challenging... If you really want to talk about the hardest part, for me it will be using the arrow keys to move, and to reel back is escaping fish. I sucked it at first, but soon get a hang of it after a few tries. I've noticed that a shrimp takes up the same amount of space on the ship as a whale. To gain more coins more quickly, try aiming for bigger catch, and then only sell your fishes when you run out of space. Explore and find the nearest shortcut back to the shop. The world is round in Fishy Waters; goes right and came back to Rainbow Bay from the left! :)

The Everloom Walkthrough Guide

The Everloom
The Everloom Logo

Play Online: The Everloom
Developer: Lucas Paakh
Genre: Adventure

The Everloom Guide
Solution to The Everloom
1. String - The first thing you'll need is to find String. You can get it from Fatts McGruf located in the area left of the Weaver by the Sphinx.

2. Scythe - Next, get the scythe from Toadpad in the village area above the Weaver.

3. Tethers - Now you'll need to take a bit of a journey to get tethers from Draco. He is located at the airship area right of the Weaver where Izabel is and go all the way down. There's another exit to the left of the waterfall. That room will be a short little jaunt around and that'll take you into the airship area. You need to go all the way to the end of it to find Draco, who will tie your string into tethers.

4. Ballons - By now, you will have your strings tied into tethers. You can now harvest the little bobbing water cactus and tun them into ballons. You need 13 of them which you will give to Izabel. (If you already wiped out the water cactus population - don't worry, they spawn like rabbits.)

5. Izabel Hair - Izabel will drop a strand of hair and you bring that to Cadmus, who is in the area above the Weaver.

6. Confidence - Cadmus will give you confidence, which you can now use to get past the Sphinx.

7. Fire Gate Key - Search for the Bad Cultist above the sphinx hiding behind the trees who will give you a key to the fire gates down south of the Weaver.

8. Solving Fire Gate Maze - Follow the numbers in the picture below and those marked with X must be avoided. Some things need to be done twice.

9. Egg - After completing the maze, proceed left and go to the very bottom until you find the meditating sage. The Sage will give you an Egg after getting all philosophical for a bit.

10. Revealing Eye - You want to go back to the area above the weaver. Go back to the fire gate maze and enter the last teleporter to be taken back to the beginning of the maze, from there just head up. Now go back to the area above the Weaver until you reach the tall building then go left and then up where the Cultist are doing the rituals. Talk to Lazarus and he'll take the egg and and in return he will let you use his Revealing Eye. To get to the eye, go to the right of the Weaver then go all the way down and to the left. It's standing on the cliff there.

11. Ring Hunt - Now you can use the eye to find the ring. It's in 4 pieces to make a complete set. The first fragment is just right below the revealing eye. The second is located in a puddle in the pathway to the airship area. The third is on the pathway below the cultists in the area above the Weaver. The fourth and final fragment is on the scenic overlook above the Sphinx.

12. Cash - Upon getting the last fragment the ring will be restored. You can now give it to Rich Uptight von Wealthson located left of the Weaver. The guy right below the Sphynx. You will receive Cash from him.

13. Ice Cream - Buy ice cream from the ice cream truck parked on a cliff near the airship.

14. Stone - Bring the ice cream to Martha by Toadpad in the area above the Weaver. You will get a rock.

15. Switch - Head towards the Sphinx and find the switch. The switch to open the lighting barrier above the Sphinx and to the right.

16. Blue Fire Puzzle - Get past the lighting gate... After a few more cinematics, you'll have to solve a puzzle with blue fire. The easy way to solve it is to simply touch each rune once in a circle. If you've already triggered some, don't worry, just keep hitting them.

Diggy Walkthrough
Here's a small guide for success in the flash game, Diggy. Firstly, upgrade the bones/fossil in the mineral shop as quickly as possible. Fully upgraded bones is worth as much as a unupgraded gold ore. Which always appears on the surface, great for getting some quick money before the 4th drill upgrade makes gold much easier to get. Never drill straight down or up if you have the solar battery upgrade, a full recharge means you can do double the mining in one run! Zig zag downwards, this is your best chance of climbing back to the top for a refill. Once you recharge though, feel free to drill straight down to save power as you don't need to go back up.

Never neglect your radar, it may seem slightly useless at the start, but it gets way more useful once you start digging deeper. In fact it's essential for beating the game! You have to find a wandering truffle using the radar! The upgraded radar slow down the mushroom. Lastly, battery upgrades are expensive and don't give you that much considering the price, use the solar battery at least until you find the truffle...

House of Wolves Game Review & Walkthrough Guide

Game Review
I have been busying with my schoolwork. Thank goodness, I finally have the time to rest in a lovely Sunday night and do a thorough review on House of Wolves, developed by Louissi. I'm particularly excited to do a review on this because House of Wolves is a lite web-based Real Time-Strategy (RTS) flash game such as Age of Empires and Starcraft but, it is on a side scrolling 2D plane. Very refreshing!

In every RTS game, you always start off with a fundamental unit usually called as settlers or builders. Their role is to harvest trees, hunt down animals for food and explore the map to mine resources such as iron and stones. Once you collect enough materials, you can expand your kingdom by building pig and chicken farms to maintain your food source reliably. Then, raise an army by building barracks, archery stands, wizard towers, etc to seek vengeance on Lord Vilereck for taking control of the crown.

I'm surprised at the considerable amount of options and control in House of Wolves. You start kind of in the middle of the 2D plane and to the right is the evil lord and to the left... Please don't go. There are some things best undisturbed in the wild. Some very evil things. Nonetheless, they will still find you trouble by attacking the villages periodically. You really need to attack on both fronts which takes some time and effort to first raise essentially two armies and then manage both. Yes, micromanaging is the word to describe.

House of Wolves is really a gem. Even working with only a single dimension, the game manages to provide challenge and remain interesting throughout. I hope to see more implementations like a market where you would be able to sell your excess resources in return for other materials or demolish your own troops/buildings. This could really broaden a considerable amount of strategy and controls. Perfect ten for me! First run through will probably take you around 40 mins, but it's worth it!

House of Wolves Walkthrough
Standard Rush
Normally, I will always start building huts at every rock/iron/gold mine you find. Pop out three more settlers to mine collect the all kind of materials. You should have roughly 33% of your population at any time taken up by settlers or maybe a little less. Keep a contingent of soldiers guarding the eastern (right) border at all times. This force may be required to increase in size as the difficulty increases. It should probably take up around 10-20% of your population to be effective.

The remaining portion of your population should be directed first at clearing the western (left) portion of the map, then the eastern (right) portion. Use whatever types of soldiers are most effective at defeating particular types of enemies you encounter. When a mine is depleted, direct the settlers who have been working it to either farm pigs or harvesting lumber. About half of your non-mining settlers should be in a mob, going from tree to tree chopping. Simply direct them to chop as you go along, and eventually they will be picked up by the mob that develops.

FOOD! If you don't have enough of it, you won't be able to keep your two armies at maximum strength. You should have about one pig farm for every two huts you have, and each pig farm should be worked by two settlers. Deer are unreliable and chicken farming is too slow. Next is don't be afraid to place new military buildings closer to your new frontiers. They're not particularly expensive once you've established a good woodcutting enterprise, and they are very useful in keeping reinforcements up to date. However, the Blacksmith only needs to be built once.

Lastly, support your armies with towers. Only build stone towers when you're in serious trouble, though. Stone is more effectively used in mobile troops, and does not replenish itself, whereas wood is renewable.

Speed Rush
Speed Rush is slightly straightforward. You are only to win the game by using only settlers! Yup. The first 25 settlers should mainly focus on gathering materials especially wood and food. The rest of the settlers should be clearing camps and destroying castle & tower. Remember to build huts at fallen campsites and towers, this is an easy way to replace dead settlers and harvest precious resources like stones.

With enough materials, rush for Black Smith and Sharp Arrow Tips immediately. You will notice your settlers will have a slight increase in overall damage. From here onward, they can clear the eastern (right) portion of the map with your both eyes closed. You're are basically unstoppable with a large unit of weak settlers. ^^

Aqua Boy Game Review

Game Review
I have just finished up this flash game called Aqua Boy and I'm in love with this game. For one reason, the game is based on Metroidvania adventure genre. Basically, it is a side-scrolling, exploratory, action-adventure gameplay, power-ups, and a map that is filled in automatically as the player progresses through the game. I haven't reviewed something quite like that yet, so let's begin!

In the game, Aqua Boy is an intrepid underwater adventurer. Scouring the uncharted depths for mysterious, long-forgotten artifacts. Unfortunately, his latest mission has gone drastically wrong after being sabotaged by your monkey sidekick and he also hid your equipment. Embarking on an epic adventure to stop the simian's evil plans, as you retrieve your scattered gear back. A decent plot to get you started. As you progress, you will upgrade your weapons and acquiring new powerups (such as shield, bomb, time stopper, key and teleportation device) that open up previously inaccessible areas.

Sadly, Aqua Boy is on the easy side for games of this genre. You can plow through from beginning to end with few deaths. With 90% completion in normal difficulties, I felt that it was too easy. The only time was close to die was in the first 5 minutes when I was testing how things worked and what was hostile. The enemies including the bosses barely put up a fight and generally have the same attack pattern; Once you figure it out, you can easily dodge or counter them. The drop rate is high too, you could even tank tons of damage just to heal fully afterwards with little cost.

I loved how the game is structured and presented overall. The player must rely on their own sense of exploration to discover new areas and goals within the game. It really can keep you busy for a good bit while keeping you actively engaged. For those of you getting lost, the flashing pixel on the mini map indicate unexplored areas. Lastly, the voice acting deserves a mention. The voice acting is amongst some of the best I've ever heard.

This Is Not A Minimalist Game Review & Walkthrough Guide

This is not a minimalist game

Developer: Storm Alligator
Genre: Story, Adventure

Game Review
I'm not totally sure the title works for me but yeah, don't get confused by the game title. This flash game is called "This is not a minimalist game" and it is tagged under "minimalism". I guessed you already figured out this game is made from scratch in 48 hours for the Ludum Dare #26. The previous post was another well designed entry for the competition, called XYZ. Continue reading if you don't know where to start!

In the game, you are a mighty warrior who spends his life doing quests for various NPC in a medieval fantasy setting. You start off with 99 evil wizard heads killstreak and looking for the last one to complete your quest. Lucky for you, there is one at the corner. All you wanted to do was to chop off his head but he cast a curse; downgrades your colored world into something much simpler. A world where there is no more colors, no more details. Even the way people talk has changed, only the essential words are left. Solve the challenges and get the world back the way it was.

There is no way this is a not a minimalist game. The idea behind is pretty deep when the character freaked out about the three-dimensional object when he acted so nonchalant about the square people freaking out about colors and things with no angles. It caught me thinking beyond fourth dimension, and then fifth, and then sixth... You know what? My mind can't even process it. This entire game is kind of about the human ability to understand what is less than their knowledge, yet they are unable to understand what is more than what their brain accepts.

Superb but could have been longer though. Things weren't nearly detailed enough yet. This needed more colors, content, perhaps creatures too. Another game with so much potential! Should definitely consider creating a more refined version. I think everyone would love it! By the way, this is "not" a minimalist game review. ^^

No-one Has To Die Game Review & Walkthrough Guide

Genre: Adventure, Story

Game Review
I can safely say No-one Has To Die is one of the deepest games I've ever played so far, yet it's so simple! Reviewing this flash game is fairly challenging to accomplish as I don't want to spoil the wonderful story line especially for those new players.

A fire has broken out in Fenix Corporation. The security team is dead, and there are people trapped on the top floor. A girl named Christina, another guy named Steve, a mysterious man named Troy and the company's CEO Lionel. You play as a "stranger" who logs into a chat room to direct the survivors as they make their way to the ground floor. On each floor, you'll be presented with a grid floor plan of people, security door, water pumps to help put out the fire, switches to control the water pumps and fire that spreads every turn. People standing on squares filled with water or fire will die.

The whole game of No-one Has to Die is operated based on choices. Unfortunately, not everyone can make it out alive. Everything is planned and calculated by the TEMPEST computer on each floor; One casualty unavoidable, only two can live. Most levels will require the sacrifice of one or more people to continue. At the end of the game depending on your choices, you will only have one survivor and an ending. However, multiple endings incorporated into this game. By repeating the game and saving different people, new aspects of the plot will be revealed to help understand all the timelines and story.

I must say No-one Has To Die is a pretty awesome one. The gameplay is fairly easy but it is not the main focus of the game so I'm not going to hold it against it. The main highlight is the plot and the music. Both had me intrigued, seriously absorbing. I always love it when alternate paths somehow link together. It is definitely worth finding all the endings! All in all, marvelous execution and the presentation of it as a puzzle game was neat!

A Small Talk At The Back Of Beyond Game Review & Walkthrough Guide

Genre: Adventure, Puzzle

Game Review
Oh awesome! A new and interesting flash game called A Small Talk At The Back Of Beyond. By ScriptWelder, it's a short experimental text-based puzzle and adventure game that you are trying to get information from a source not too eager to give anything away. Basically, you communicate by inputting questions and statements to get responses.

The game begins with your character awaking disorientedly, unsure of where you are but in an unsettling claustrophobic room. You notice a screen ringing in your ears and telling you a story and questions, but you aren't sure if you can trust it. Your observations will be key to coaxing the answers of your situation out and say whatever you want to the AI. Apparently, a nuclear war has all but wiped out Earth, and you’re one of only a few survivors, kept alive by a government-created shelter. Or perhaps, a lie or I'm wrong?

While the official Beta is over, ScriptWelder will still add user submitted parser suggestions into the game. Unfortunately, A Small Talk At The Back Of Beyond still has a long way to go... I encountered far too many instances of potentially interesting pseudo-conversation halted by "I don’t understand" or "Can you try rephrasing that?". I would also wish the AI could respond better because I wanted to talk more and ask "Why it was afraid?". I feel like the AI might not have been a computer really, but maybe a consciousness within the system. Within 5 minutes, the flash game gave me more feelings than half the movies I've ever watched. ^^

Overall, A Small Talk At The Back Of Beyond is a short but an intelligent little game. It comes with tens or hundreds twist packed in very quickly, which makes the pacing seem a little rushed but all come together in a very satisfying way. I definitely hope for a sequel or something else. I'm really impressed!

Genre: Adventure, Education

Game Review
Our body is a complex system built for everyday's survival and incredible phenomena are happening in your body all the time. But have you ever stopped to think about what keeps you breathing, how information travels from your senses to your brain instantly, or any of the other amazing things that constantly happen to keep you alive? What happens when the human body is put into extreme situations? These questions can be answered by Code Fred: Survival Mode sponsored by the Museum of Science and Technology of Chicago, which is an educational flash game teaching how your body works.

In the game, you are Fred. Fred is having a really bad day! Lost in a forest late at night while making your way back to camp. Soon, you find yourself attacking by a lone wolf. Your job is to jump inside the human body and participate in these physiological processes to help Fred outrun danger in the woods in various engaging mini games. For example, build a blood clot to help heal a wolf bite, prioritize energy intake to the most critical organs, and even fight bacteria invaders after Fred gets sneezed on in the woods.

The idea behind Code Fred: Survival Mode is original. It presents the human body in an understandable way that still makes me feel a little smart! The information is accurate and meaningful from a medical and scientific point of view. I can safely say, the education factor is beneficial to people of all ages. Things like this should appear more often in classrooms! Biology would become so much more interesting when you see things in action like this. This is probably one of the most educational games I have played. Now no one can say I haven't been productive! >:D

Game Review
Imagine the next ice age has arrived and the world as we know it has peacefully frozen in time but to one naked survivor it's cold and lonely as hell! You found a kids push bike and you ride over the icy terrain collecting bubbles while avoiding various hazards like icicles and spikes.

The special feature implemented is push bike can only advance, you cannot pedal back so remembering the best route is part of the challenge. I don't mind challenges and the trial and error through the game. Dying multiple times to figure out the way to go feels pretty accomplishing.

The controls are okay. Holding back seems to slow you down for the parts where you're going too fast. The first run was not smooth, I had lots of deaths which are avoidable. In my opinion, it's not really that bad afterwards. If you play multiple times, you will notice he gets clothing. From scarf to shirt to underwear to sweater and lastly traffic cone. The developer is being creative here, why wear a traffic cone on his head instead of getting him a pants?

The game has good sound effects especially when the guy's echo "hello?!". I like it! Overall, it's a humoristic game; a nudist man cycling an undersized bike in the snow and ice. Thoroughly enjoyed it all the way.

P.S. First post of 2013, I wish you happy new year! ^^

Game Review
Hoping for more rogue like RPG flash games? First was Red Rogue and now we have Dungelot. Red Rogue was a fairly hardcore rouge like flash game mainly suitable for competitive gamer. I would say Dungelot is a lot more casual but it works in its favor. It is an amazing game concept, truly unique and very fun to play.

Dungelot is a very typical dungeon crawler. You have four playable characters that you can choose on; a paladin, a vampire, a dwarf brewer and an assassin. Each character have their own special abilities and stats (Health & Attack Rate). Basically, you flip over tiles to reveal amazing treasures or deadly monsters in your search for the key to exit the level. A side note here, if you encounter an enemy you do not have to fight right away but they do block passage.

During the run, you will sure face monster arena. Its a place where you must kill all monsters to get a chest with rewards, but there is no turning back if you agreed to go there. Next will be this tile that is constantly flashing object like slot machine; you must click fast to grab thing you want. "Greedy door" is one of the last additions. The idea is that you must pay something to open the door. Not necessarily money, sometimes it takes your hp or attack rate.

I like the game so far and it's quite addictive too! Not only that you can pick among different heroes and fight evil goblins and skeleton, the game improves as the player goes deeper into the dungeon. The quest option for some levels gives the player a special challenge and reason, more on motivation, to continue playing. Another thing I love the Dungelot is the fact that this game congratulates me upon dying makes this quite possibly one of the more enjoyable rogue like games I've played. No bitter feelings upon dying, nothing negative. Losing is fun! ^^

Strategy for Dungelot
Paladin
Paladin is a good class to play because in the later part, most of the monsters are mostly undead. Your Crusader Strike and Holy Strike have good synergy together and will deal tons of damage as you progress. The best part of being a Paladin is you can afford to die once, you get revived after being killed. If you see it in my context, you basically have a Resurrection Stone in your pocket every time you start a new game.

Vampire
So far, I feel that the vampire is probably the most most well balanced class in Dungelot. It can life steal, modify monster's damage and a mass attack power. Undead Sympathy in other words, a damage modifier has a chance to reduce the target's attack power against non-undead monsters up to 40%. You will find it handy once you reach floor 50 and above. Life Stealing HP from monsters means you are constantly healing bit by bit. It may seem little but essential for survival. I like!

Brewer
The brewer has the highest HP among all the classes. It has a skill which effectively converts spells scroll to health at a higher amount and there is a small chance to gain attack power after doing so. This skill really helped me clear through floors easily when you have extra spell scrolls to spare. Every time you attack, you have a 20% chance to stun an enemy for 3 turns and 6% to do extra damage based on the dwarf's health.

Assassin
The assassin has been badly nerfed but still an outstanding class to play with. The assassin has no direct or indirect way of healing but you are a cunning dodger; you dodge attacks and have the ability to hit the enemy twice. These skills are made to protect you and keep you alive longer. Dirty Punch cause damage to newly discovered enemies without hit back and stun target for 1 move. He is perfect in clearing bosses.

Alchemist
The alchemist is fairly new character in Dungelot. She is a more passive class I would say... She can poison newly revealed enemy and has a chance to gain extra attack rates. I like one of her unique skills which can summon a minion to tank damage from her. The HP may not be much but, just imagine if she can summon at least one minion in every floor. Calculate the total amount of temporary HP she gets? It is actually unbelievable.

Dungelot Tile Strategy
Dungelot Tile Strategy

In my opinion, I will explore all the tiles along the white lines shown above. Try to take out monsters in 1 hit if possible. A good offense is the best defense. Then explore the remaining dungeon floors as much as you can before fighting, since you might find upgrades or allies. Wait to open the barrels until all of the unexplored squares around them are gone, just to prevent monster that will block you. Clearing dungeon now gives rewards like health, golds, attack rate. In most cases, with the exception of quests and arenas, killing monsters unnecessarily in the later part of the game is a bad idea, as it reliably drains your health for only a tiny achievement gold boost at the end of the current game.

There are two types of ways you can use a scroll, cast it or exchange it. Try saving up scrolls like Polymorph, First Strike and Teleport. Let them stack up as much as possible as these three yield highest HP for trade in. Alternatively, you can save all fireball scrolls for levels 40+ and use them to take out ranged foes. Aside that, Lightning scrolls can be good in arenas since you're hitting ~8 monsters. General thumb of rule, wait until the next floor to exchange scrolls for health if possible, you might get more for them. If you are lucky to find artifacts, always keep as many Resurrection Stone and Ring Of Health as possible. They all the essential items for your survival.

Greedy doors mostly contain spells and rarely artifacts which makes it really quite easy to tell whether or not they're worth the price of admission. Remember also how much health you gain from burning a spell; that's the value of the door. If the door costs health, then, it's usually worth it, since you probably gain health by burning the spell outright. If it costs gold, it's frequently a better deal than the shop which does not necessarily say that it's a good deal. You receive spells too from challenge doors. It's pretty easy to clear it, so try your best to complete.

Lastly, towards the end when your HP is lower than 10, don't forget you can sell artifacts for money for those desperate situations. This will help you get extra gold to upgrade your character and buy single attack boost.

Pro Tip: Spell scrolls do stack. You can pick up spell scrolls even with full inventory, if there's a duplicate in there. You can exchange spell scrolls by consuming but do not eat all the spells scroll for health until you really need to, they give more HP the lower down you go.
