- Go back to the bar and use the sword fish on the rope holding the anchor lamp up and watch it fall on the barkeep. Take cleaning rag to find the map.

- Use the porcupine on the left statue head under the left monkey. Then click on the left monkey.
- Grab the banana and head back to the right. Give the banana to the female monkey and take the ring.
- Go back to the temple and click on the door. Use the ring on the center and turn the piece to make the door unlock. Go inside.
- Use the bottle if it is filled with water on the gold statue to switch them out for an achievement. Or, if you did not fill your bottle with water, click on the pot in the corner to collect some rice and combine that with your bottle to be able to trade it with the statue.

The Temple:
- Click on the compass and head back to your ship to win the game and the golden compass achievement.

Icarus Needs Game Review

Game Review
Daniel Merlin Goodbrey, the creator of A Duck Has An Adventure is back with his second interactive story adventure called Icarus Needs, in which you play as Icarus. Icarus has fallen asleep after playing videogames and become trapped inside a surreal dream world that’s part video-game and part comic strip. What’s worse, somehow his girlfriend Kit has got trapped inside the same dream.

Now Icarus needs to locate Kit, escape the clutches of the King of Squirrels and find some way back to the waking world. Gameplay is very minimal. Using the arrow keys to navigate through each little panel of the comic-strip to solve simple puzzles... In fact, Icarus Needs is very similar to his last game, however now in a more puzzle adventure style. Honestly, I find Icarus Needs really cool and fun. The comic frame style was rather a rather creative approach to a game. Very different from what I usually play!

Sadly, the lack of branching and single ending make it feel rather short, as compared to A Duck Has An Adventure with 16 different endings. With multiple path possibilities that create different endings depending on your choices. This would give a good amount of replay value that's missing here. I'm asking for too much! ^^

Game Review
I guess we will have something quite different than everything else today. A Duck Has An Adventure is a sweet and simple interactive story flash game that made me go "Aww :(" and "Aww :D". I don't know how I ended up playing it... I think it could be the title, or might be the attractive yellow?

The first impression quickly felt like it was less than a game, however more on choosing your own adventure. As a duck you will be tasked with choices such as going to school, leading a simple life or go on an adventure. Each timelines will branch out to multiple story lines then to different endings; Like entering Kitten Cove and try diplomacy or inventing an dPod then leads to the presidency for life. In total, there are 16 different endings with 12 achievements to gain and various hats you can also achieve.

The stories in A Duck Has An Adventure are all cute and relevant. After staring at the screen mindlessly clicking for a while, I started thinking deeply about choices in life. I didn't expect such a short game could leave such an impact on me. By far the most thought provoking game I have ever played! To end off, my favorite progression was to lead a simple life, chase the ladies, play the field and seek lost love. Still a better love story than Twilight! >:D

This Is Not A Minimalist Game Review & Walkthrough Guide

This is not a minimalist game

Developer: Storm Alligator
Genre: Story, Adventure

Game Review
I'm not totally sure the title works for me but yeah, don't get confused by the game title. This flash game is called "This is not a minimalist game" and it is tagged under "minimalism". I guessed you already figured out this game is made from scratch in 48 hours for the Ludum Dare #26. The previous post was another well designed entry for the competition, called XYZ. Continue reading if you don't know where to start!

In the game, you are a mighty warrior who spends his life doing quests for various NPC in a medieval fantasy setting. You start off with 99 evil wizard heads killstreak and looking for the last one to complete your quest. Lucky for you, there is one at the corner. All you wanted to do was to chop off his head but he cast a curse; downgrades your colored world into something much simpler. A world where there is no more colors, no more details. Even the way people talk has changed, only the essential words are left. Solve the challenges and get the world back the way it was.

There is no way this is a not a minimalist game. The idea behind is pretty deep when the character freaked out about the three-dimensional object when he acted so nonchalant about the square people freaking out about colors and things with no angles. It caught me thinking beyond fourth dimension, and then fifth, and then sixth... You know what? My mind can't even process it. This entire game is kind of about the human ability to understand what is less than their knowledge, yet they are unable to understand what is more than what their brain accepts.

Superb but could have been longer though. Things weren't nearly detailed enough yet. This needed more colors, content, perhaps creatures too. Another game with so much potential! Should definitely consider creating a more refined version. I think everyone would love it! By the way, this is "not" a minimalist game review. ^^

This Is Not A Minimalist Game Guide
Walkthrough to This Is Not A Minimalist Game

2) Go right on the white plains and talk to the rectangle. Take the square quest. Ask him where the squares are, insist and he will give you the map.
3) Once you have the map, open it with “1″, and then hit “2″. You go to the quarry and unlock another location (City – “3″).
4) Pick up the 5 squares on the quarry.
5) Go back to the NPC. Talk to him until he drops two red squares. Jump on them. It will make the floor red. Talk to the NPC until he explodes.
6) Go to the City (“3″), go right, talk to the NPC. He will give you another location on the map.
7) Go to the quarry. Pick up a square.
8) Go to “signs”. Take the “this is not a square sign”. Drop a square. Drop the sign on top of it. It will generate a circle and clouds.
9) Go back talk to the NPC in the City (“3″). He will give you another location “Strange Stuff” “5″.
10) Go to “Strange Stuff”. Find the 3. Jump on it, it will make trees.
11) Go back talk to the NPC in the City (“3″) until he has nothing left to say.
12) Go to the quarry (“2″). Jump on a blue circle and on a yellow circle, it will add colors.
13) Go back talk to the NPC in the City (“3″) until he has nothing left to say.
14) Go back to “1″. Go right until you find a fruit that is different from the others. Wait next to it until you can pick it up. Pick it up, then wait, it will generate details.
15) Go back talk to the NPC in the City (“3″). He will send you to the mirror (“6″).
16) Go to the quarry (“2″) to pick a red square, a blue circle and a yellow circle. Make sure you have the strange fruit, if not, go back take one in location “1″.
17) Go to the mirror (“6″). Go right until you see your reflexion. Drop the red square, the blue circle, the yellow circle and the strange fruit. It will give you back your original appearance. Wait, you will be teleported to where you came from.
18) Go down talk to the NPC. When the NPC drops a cube, jump on it.

No-one Has To Die Game Review & Walkthrough Guide

No-one Has To Die

Play Online: No-one Has To Die
Developer: Stuart Madafiglio
Genre: Adventure, Story

Game Review
I can safely say No-one Has To Die is one of the deepest games I've ever played so far, yet it's so simple! Reviewing this flash game is fairly challenging to accomplish as I don't want to spoil the wonderful story line especially for those new players.

A fire has broken out in Fenix Corporation. The security team is dead, and there are people trapped on the top floor. A girl named Christina, another guy named Steve, a mysterious man named Troy and the company's CEO Lionel. You play as a "stranger" who logs into a chat room to direct the survivors as they make their way to the ground floor. On each floor, you'll be presented with a grid floor plan of people, security door, water pumps to help put out the fire, switches to control the water pumps and fire that spreads every turn. People standing on squares filled with water or fire will die.

The whole game of No-one Has to Die is operated based on choices. Unfortunately, not everyone can make it out alive. Everything is planned and calculated by the TEMPEST computer on each floor; One casualty unavoidable, only two can live. Most levels will require the sacrifice of one or more people to continue. At the end of the game depending on your choices, you will only have one survivor and an ending. However, multiple endings incorporated into this game. By repeating the game and saving different people, new aspects of the plot will be revealed to help understand all the timelines and story.

I must say No-one Has To Die is a pretty awesome one. The gameplay is fairly easy but it is not the main focus of the game so I'm not going to hold it against it. The main highlight is the plot and the music. Both had me intrigued, seriously absorbing. I always love it when alternate paths somehow link together. It is definitely worth finding all the endings! All in all, marvelous execution and the presentation of it as a puzzle game was neat!

400 Years Game Review & Walkthrough Guide

400 Years
400 Years Logo

Play Online: 400 Years
Developer: Scriptwelder
Genre: Action, Story

Game Review
Humans have a life expectancy of 80 years in developed countries. Let us compare ourselves to the lifespan of a planetary object... In short, our time is a point if you were to plot down a timeline. The concept of time and whether it has an end has always been a question to me. 400 years is an awesome flash game from Scriptwelder about a glimpse into time.

In the game, you play as a stone statue (resembles a Moai statue) who senses a great calamity approaching the world. You embark a journey to stop it in 400 years. Time is basically both on your side and working against you. When you come up against an obstacle in your path you can't get past, all you can really do is just to wait. Holding the space bar will advance time through the seasons and years, the landscape around you changes too until your presents a solution. Like waiting till the winter for the lake to freeze or wait a few years for a chestnut tree to grow tall enough and then climb over the cliff.

The farther you go, you find yourself playing a more active role in shaping the world around you such as feeding a village and wait until they build bridges across the lake. It's rare to find discover new game concepts, and the implementation of "waiting for time" as a solution is pretty original and beautiful. Really a bowl of fresh air to play such games, especially the slow pace, slow music, easy graphics made it a joy to wander around. Then, ended with no great meaning made obvious to the reader.

I loved every bit of this little game. Patience is a virtue that really sums up the game and also meaningful although short; I wish it was longer, at least twice as long. Perhaps, this might be the reason why we survive 2012. He saved us all... Let’s play again and spare no one now. >:)

400 Years Guide
Solution to 400 Years
- Stand up and head to the right. Don't be afraid of water... stone can't breathe, so just walk right through it!
- When you encounter the second pond with no slope to climb out the other side on, press and hold [spacebar] to advance time to winter so it freezes over.
- Continue heading right.
- Climb the first tree at the cliff.
- On top of the ledge, press and hold [spacebar] to advance time to wait for the second tree to grow large enough to climb... about ten years!
- Once you've climbed up, advance the time to fall.
- Head to the right and press [E] to pick up one of the chesnuts. Be careful not to advance time while carrying it since it will crumble to dust! (Don't worry, you can always advance to fall again and pick up another if this happens.)
- Continue to the right until you hit a wall, and press [E] again while standing close to it to plant the chestnut.
- Advance time until the newly planted tree is tall enough to climb. (Around ten to thirteen years or so.)
- Climb the tree, and once atop the cliff, advance the time to winter.
- Head to the right, crossing over the frozen water, and continue on.
- When you get to the cliff, just step off. Don't be scared, you're very sturdy.
- Making sure the season is still set to winter, continue to the right past the village and cross the frozen water.
- On the other side of the water, advance the time to fall.
- Press [E] while standing in it to pick some of the grain you find growing there. Once again, don't advance time or the grain will crumble to dust and you'll have to come back for more.
- Head to the left back towards the village and fall into the water you had just crossed.
- Walk along under the water to the left, through the tunnel, until you reach a tree.
- Climb the tree and head to the right until you fall back to the village.
- Press [E] when prompted to plant the grain, right at the spot you fell in.
- Head to the right and stand beside the water.
- Advance time for... a long time. Over the span of several decades, you will notice the village begin to improve, and eventually they will start building a bridge.
- When the bridge is completed (you can stop advancing time whenever you like to check on its progress) head to the right and cross it.
- Where you originally found the grain, you should now find a new settlement of villagers.
- Keep heading to the right until you encounter a small pond of water. If there is no bridge across it yet, advance time more years until the villagers build a bridge across that gap as well.
- Proceed to the right until you encounter another big body of water.
- Advance time while standing on the shore until it is winter and the water has frozen over.
- Head across the water while it's iced over, but stop roughly in the middle of the lake and advance time so the ice melts.
- If done correctly, you should fall through the ice and down a long, long tunnel underwater. If you missed, just climb out and try again.
- Walk all the way to the right, climbing the slope, until you reach a wall with stalactites and stalagmites growing from the ceiling and floor.
- Once more, advance time until the stalactites have grown up from the ground enough for you to climb over the wall. This will take a LONG TIME, easily over 70 years, so be patient.
- Climb over the wall and proceed to the right down into the water.
- Advance time to summer and continue walking through the water to the right. Eventually, you should encounter a net dangling from the surface. Use this to climb up to land. (The boat only both has its net down and is close to the left side of the screen where you want it in the summer.)
- Head to the left through the village until you encounter a wall.
- Advance time once more until the tree there grows tall enough to climb... don't worry if you can't see it right away, it's there.
- At the top of the wall once you can climb, advance time to fall.
- Pick up one of the chestnuts lying on the ground.
- Head back to the right.
- Keep walking right until you fall into the water you climbed up out of.
- The boat should now be parked on the right side of the shore opposite the village. Use its net to climb up and out.
- Walk up to the wall and plant your chestnut against it.
- Once more, advance time until your newly planted tree is tall enough to climb.
- Climb the tree and continue walking to the right.
- At the top of the tall, sooty mountain, you should find a hole. Climb all the way down it.
- When prompted, press [E] to block the lava, and then advance time to see the results.
